KNICKS OFFICIAL YANKEE BASEBALL TEAM

The New York Knickerbocker Drum & Bugle Corps, here participating in a ceremony at Yankee Stadium, with Yanks Elston Howard and Bernie Allen, have returned from third international championship and goodwill tour.

The Knickerbocker Drum and Bugle Corps of the Bronx entertained before the game and it was a shame only 5827 were in attendance. They were good enough to be there on that day the Yankee draw 70,000 again.

The New York Knickerbockers drum and bugle corps has been designated as the official one of the New York Yankees baseball team, announces Frederick J. Bachman, special projects director for the Yanks. The Knicks were to appear in the Stadium yesterday, to be presented with the New York Yankee flag.

The designation came as a result of an agreement between Michael Burke, president of the baseball organization , and Harvey Berish, general manager of the 110-members marching band and pageantry team. Then Knickerbockers also are " ambassadors of good will" for New York City.

The corps is one of two junior musical marching units housed in quarters at 2415 Westchester Ave., and is open to membership for youngsters aged 9 to 21.

1972- N.Y.C. Knickerbockers with dynamic Drum-Major Bobby Lopez and Guard Captian JoAnn Marsh, all clad in black, peach and red accents, open with ''I Like To Be In America", " I Got Love", has an out of "I'D Like To Teach The World To Sing", into second concert of "Light My Fire", with exit of "Coming Home Baby". The New York City crew is designed to entertain. In a building year, as obvious with many new and young faces, the Knicks will be sure winners in the future.

Anyone who has attended the Major Individual and Quartet Championship Shows this winter in the Metropolitan New York area, has walked away with great admiration for a quite young man representing the N.Y. Knickerbockers.

It is difficult indeed to bring honor to your unit as a single individual, usually it is the group effort that brings recognition, but Dominic Livoti, now called "Dr. Dom" has succeeded in winning all types of plaudits for his superiority in the musical world and his personality, which is a reflection on his unit.

Dom has been a member of the Knicks since they were the Midshipmen. Rising steadily until his appointment last year to the solo position during the Knicks remarkable color presentation. He is a member of the corps Jr. Staff, and Dominic is the instructor of the Knickerbocker Cadet parade and training unit. A college man, Dominic is just one of the many fine young people in Drum Corps that merit attention and special notice.

Recently Dominic won Individual Soprano Solo medals at St. Andrews Bridgemen N.E. Championship, Bayonne, New Jersey, St. Rita's Brassmen show Brooklyn, New York and Hurricanes National Open at Bridgeport, Conn.

Acknowledgments

''Music in the Air" originated 2 years ago at Memorial Stadium, in Mount Vernon. The contest is now recognized as one of the finest presented in the area during the ''Drum Corps Season''. We are sincerely happy to bring the contest to the public again this year, (1964). This could not have been accomplished without the help of many people. Unfortunately space does not permit us to name them all, but we would like to acknowledge the continued help of the following: Commissioner Branca and the Mount Vernon Department of Recreation for their generosity and understanding. The Mount Vernon Police Department and the Auxiliary Police for the efficient job of handling the field protection and traffic problem, and of course the many thousands of wonderful people who continue to patronize our show. Once again it is a genuine pleasure to welcome all of you to the Second Edition of "Music in the Air".

We of the Sea Battalions of New York are extremely proud of our Drum & Bugle Corps. "The Midshipmen" and we look forward annually to the great program which brings so much enjoyment to the people of our city and to those in surrounding areas who make it a "must see" on their summer schedule.

May I extend to you a most cordial welcome and sincere wish that you will enjoy the program from start to finish. With best wishes to all competing units, and to all visiting fans.
