Drum Corps News , August 18, 1971

With the corps moving down the far side of the field and set of four exhibition rifles near the opposite sideline. New York Knickerbockers ' opening of Manhattan Serenade and 42nd Street proves quite lively. The patriotic medley for color presentation finds the corps divided into three segments but then all combine for and effective picture by the end of the number. A memorable performance by the Knicks' Drum-Major, Bob Lopez, may stand out in the minds of many in the audience. Their score 73.85. On leaving the field at retreat, the corps received a standing ovation - a rare happening with the conservative Western Penna. audiences.
