Pennsylvania Report by Fay & Francis O' Donnell , Aug 9, 1971

Aug. 9- Butler, Pa. A very sparse crowd gathered at the Butler Sr. High field for the Festival of Champions sponsored by Jr. Catholic Daughters of America corps. Des Plaines Vanguards (75.70) took top honors for the second time in as many days in Western Penna.

Knickerbocker's Drum-Major, Bob Lopez, is attired in a violently orange metallic shirt that is trimmed in gold sequins. Though you might think would clash with the corps' red-gold-black outfits, it does blend in well.

Spinning rifles add to the effect during the 42nd Street part of their opener. Color presentation gives on to stereo sound with buglers divided into three sections for their stirring, patriotic medley. From pres. the corps is right into concert and the production offering Two Bit Hora. The last includes dancing' guard girls plus lots O' other action. Their score --(62.75)
