Welcome to the New York Knickerbocer Jr. Drum & Bugle Corp Home Site.
1970 was a chapter in Drum Corps history. It was a year of apprenticeship, a year of acceptance, a year of achievement, but it wasn't of year of triumph. But it was a year of fond memories.
Acceptance into the U.O.J.C. ("The Top Ten")- Opening at the Felt Forum, Our first international tour with Drum-Major Bob Lopez, ( two exciting weeks on the road through middle America), The excitement and disappointments of the U.S. Open and The World Open, Crossing the United States Border into Canada, Playing to a packed Shea Stadium on Labor Day, Leading the Putaski Day Parade up Fabulous 5th Avenue..... and to climax a remarkable year, being chosen to march in the most famous spectacle of all The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade... How many Millions of People saw and heard us that year ???? We'll really never know.
The Knickerbocker Cadets grew and established themselves with new directors, a new staff, and lots of new cadets. By the Fall of that year almost a dozen former cadets were accepted into the "A" Corps, and indication of how successful this part of the program has been.
This site is dedicated to all the members of the New York Knickerbockers who work so hard in making a difference and became the lst Official New York City Ambassadors of Goodwill. Official New York Entry in National & World Competition. Official Musical Unit of the New York Yankees. Officially recognized as a U.S. Cultural Asset.
